Grammar Charades

A student will select a card from the face down deck, and then act out the card. After the charade is guessed, I'll ask the students to identify the noun and verb.

On index cards make a list of tasks:

  • sharpening your pencil
  • hanging up your coat
  • pouring a glass of water
  • hammar a nail
  • jump rope
  • climb a fence
  • pat a dog
  • eat a sandwich
  • throw a ball
  • fasten a seat-belt
I plan to use this as just a quick 10 minute filler.

I have a similar activity for charades that focus on verbs and adverbs. For example, the card might say "walking slowly". Once the phrase is guessed, then the students identify the verb and adverb. However, I didn't think my class was ready for that yet, so I'm going to try Noun & Verb Charades first.

  1. Learn by playing, what a great combination. I find my son is more receptive to this style of learning than, simply going at it the old fashion way. He loves playing games. So if I'm able to somehow incorporate a school related activity, all the better.
